 | Industrial traffic on Morgantown Road
 | Faulconer Construction intends to move its industrial equipment yard
and storage facilities to this site. This equipment is often
transported on large oversize trailers and includes large cranes and
earth moving equipment. |
 | The proposed site is just up the street from Murray Elementary
School and Millstone Preschool. School buses and
children walking home travel on Morgantown road, a road which has no
sidewalks and which Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) says is not
even wide enough to have lane stripes. |
 | VDOT's comments on the
preliminary site plan were limited to state right of ways. VDOT
officials stated NO consideration was being given to the impact of this
project on traffic patterns or volume on and around Morgantown Road.
There are no road upgrades for Morgantown Road in VDOT's current
six-year plan. |

 | Environmental degradation
 | Potential water pollution in two creeks that feed the Ivy Creek
Watershed. |
 | Potential threats to neighborhood and school drinking water wells. |
|
 | Loss of valuable aesthetic visual resources
 | Faulconer's preliminary site plan required the clear-cutting of much
of the property's 27 acres. As a result, a waiver was requested
for disturbance of critical slopes. Clearing this site will have a
tremendous impact on the residential property and surrounding
neighborhoods. |
 | The industrial equipment leaving this site will have to travel on
secondary roads and scenic Route 250. The size of this equipment
will likely require further road upgrades and traffic lights that will
have a substantial negative effect on the rural residential community. |
